Molly & Alex’s Winter Wedding at Southend Barns

Southend Barns Wedding Photography

Molly and Alex were married at Southend Barns on a crisp late November day, surrounded by friends, family, and some unexpected (yet amazing) alpacas in the neighbouring field. Their winter wedding leaned into warm autumnal colours, cosy barn vibes, and a relaxed atmosphere that suited the venue perfectly.

Winter weddings don’t always get the attention they deserve, but days like this are a good reminder of how lovely they can be. The light is softer, the air has that proper November bite to it, and the whole thing feels naturally intimate.

If you’ve been to Southend Barns before you’ll know how well it works year-round. Even in winter the barns are bright and welcoming, and the courtyard still makes a great spot for guests to gather with a drink and catch up. One of the more unexpected highlights came from the field next door, where a small group of alpacas kept a close eye on proceedings. A few guests wandered over during the drinks reception to say hello, which definitely doesn’t happen at every wedding.

Molly and Alex kept the day relaxed from start to finish. No rushing around, no overcomplicated schedule, just time spent properly enjoying the day with the people they’d invited to share it. As the afternoon faded into evening the barns took on that warm glow they do so well, with candles, fairy lights and a dance floor that didn’t stay empty for long.

Here’s Molly and Alex’s wedding at Southend Barns as I saw it.

Weddings at Southend Barns

Southend Barns is one of those venues that works brilliantly in every season. The restored barns have loads of natural light, the courtyard is perfect for drinks receptions, and the surrounding countryside gives you plenty of space to step away for a few quiet portraits.

Even in the middle of winter the venue still feels bright and welcoming, which made it a great setting for Molly and Alex’s November wedding.

If you’re planning your big day at Southend Barns (or anywhere really) I’d love to chat.
