Morning After
Sore head? Off on honeymoon? Whatever the morning after your wedding is to you, I will already have your images safely backed up to various hard drives so rest easy, your wedding is safe and sound. Over the following couple of days I will post send you a few “teaser” images as well as pop some on my social media accounts (if you don’t follow me yet, why not???).
Nowadays everyone is accustomed to seeing wedding photos published instantly on Facebook or Instagram by people at the wedding. Unfortunately these are often not the best representation of the day – blurry, wonky etc etc. That’s not what I want people’s first impression of your wedding to be. I like to get in there early so people are able to see your wedding day in all it’s glory.
After this I usually let a wedding sit for a week or two before I look at it. I find that in the week after the wedding I am still emotionally invested in it. I will still be conscious of images I took which at the time I thought were epic and as a result I may not see one I captured that is actually far better. By leaving your images for a week or two I am seeing the wedding with fresh eyes and can really do the images justice.
Once I have done my thing and edited the collection, usually around 6-8 weeks after the wedding you will receive a password and PIN number to access your portfolio of images (during peak season this can stretch to 12 weeks unfortunately – good things to those who wait). You can download the entire collection as often as you like and pass the password to friends and family.
There is also the option to buy prints or collections of prints directly from the online gallery. Your images are then archived by me for one year. It is up to you guys to make copies (lots of them I suggest). If you have opted for an album the process starts a week or two after you’ve received your images.
This gives you a little time to digest them and decide your faves. I will come up with a first draft “online proof” of your album where you will be able to see the album exactly as it will be printed. Together over the coming days we then make as many changes to the layout and the images used until you are completely in love with the end result.
Once the proof is completed I send the layout off to the album company and in around 4-6 weeks you receive a pretty incredible package through the mail. If you haven’t gone for an album but have since changed your mind, just gimme a shout and we can add it to your package.
And that’s that. The dust settles. The memory fades slightly. Life goes on. The difference though is you now have a document of your happiest day ever. A visual legacy you will be able to show to the kids, and to their kids, and to whomever you can find. I love the process, from start to finish, of photographing a wedding. I hope you guys do also. Thanks again for entrusting me with this. It’s an honour.
