Amelia and Paul // Portsmouth

Amelia and Paul are one of those couples you can’t help but like. The minute I first met them over a beer in Southsea I knew they were my kind of people. Zero fuss. Open. Warm. Up for a good time. Plus Paul’s attitude is just infectious and you immediately want to be his best pal (not in a creepy way). Their plan was to have a small wedding at Southsea Castle followed by a meal and some drinks in Old Portsmouth at the Still and West. I got to point my cameras at them.

I headed first to their flat where the girls were getting hair and make-up done, but it was still early days so I hot footed it around the corner to meet Paul and his family and friends at the Irish Bar Shenanigans. Something of a legend in Portsmouth (Shenanigans that is, not Paul - sorry mate) we hung out there for a while before I headed back to capture the final touches, the dress going on, and the emotion and love felt all around. It was then off to the frankly cool as hell Southsea Castle for the ceremony.

The room in which you say your “I do’s” at Southsea Castle is full of character and atmosphere, I loved it. It was perfect for their intimate wedding ceremony. We then headed out onto the ramparts for some fizz, some food, and some dancing. The sun blazed down on us all day, it was sublime. We then sent all of the guests off to the Still and West while I took Amelia and Paul on a stroll from Southsea to Old Portsmouth, stopping at various little nooks for some portraits. Amelia and Paul were a dream to shoot. The love for each other just oozes out of them.

Here’s their wedding at Southsea Castle in Portsmouth as I saw it.
