Sarah and Tom’s wedding at Itchenor Sailing Club can be described in two words: Shots & Chaos. Quite simply these guys know how to throw a party, and they went for it big style. This was the outpouring of emotion after 2 years of waiting to party with their friends and family. In 2020 I photographed their small, legal wedding when only a ahandful of folk were allowed to attend. This time, in late 2021, they had everyone there, and they were going to make the most of it. With the gorgeous Itchenor Sailing Club as the backdrop for their celebrant led wedding, they loved, laughed and drank an abundance of the hard stuff. Good times.

I arrived early to capture Sarah and the girls getting ready at the Ship Inn across the road from the venue, and also catch Tom arriving in their beloved “Pam the camper van”. Before we knew it we were walking down the road to the sailing club to do the whole “getting married” thing. Tom and Sarah chose to have a celebrant led wedding - they were already legally married, so this wedding was more a blessing and a celebration of their love for one another. I know I say it often, but this is by far my favourite way of having a wedding. Legal registrar weddings can be quite restricting in what you can and can’t do, whereas with celebrant led weddings you can make your ceremony truly yours. I mean, you can even neck shots of whiskey in the middle of it if you so wish, and Sarah and Tom definitely wished. So, the guests included, shots were downed. The ceremony was led by the amazing Caroline Lambie who goes by the name Humanist Caroline (who they had booked in ages ago and who had since moved to Scotland but still honoured the booking and made the trek south - bravo) and she led the guests through Sarah and Tom’s story. It was truly heartfelt and another reason I loved celebrant led weddings.

After the ceremony, well, chaos really. Drinking, partying, food for days, and just laughter. My abiding memory of these two will always be laughter. I had an absolute blast and I am super fortunate I get to do this as a job. Anyway, that’s enough of that. In short - Icthenor Sailing club is an awesome place for a wedding, and Sarah and Tom were awesome.

Here’s Sarah and Tom’s Itchenor Sailing Club celebrant led wedding as I saw it.
