I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of shooting weddings at Bury Court Barn. There aren’t many venues that I shoot at regularly, mainly because I really like the variety of working at new venues to keep things fresh, but Bury Court Barn is one that I have made a real effort to work at often. one reason is it’s flipping lush. but the other reason is that it just attracts the sweetest, kindest, and most fun couples you could hope to meet. Sophie and Andy fall into that category.

I met Sophie at bury Court whilst she was in the throes of hair and make-up, so I grabbed my usual coffee, and wandered about, snapping the scene, popping back in a shooting a few make-up shots, popping back out and meeting Andy, and just generally building the narrative of the day. I think it’s mega important in wedding photography to not just look for the obvious - the dress shot, or the shoes shot, or the bouquet etc etc. what really tells the story of the day is little things, and I make a point of capturing just about everything, even if that’s some tatty trainers that you live in, or a make-up bag you’ve had for a decade. They all matter, and they all show who you are, which is what weddings are all about I think.

Sophie and Andy had an outdoor ceremony (another reason I love this place!) followed by the confetti shot of dreams! They had about a million guests at their wedding so I couldn’t fit them all in the standard line up, so we improvised, and oh my lordy it worked. After this we went for some photos, I made them stand in a field, we ate some food and then we all hit the dance floor. Man alive did we hit the dance floor. If I come home from a wedding with stamped on shoes, elbow marks on my cheeks and drink spillages down my trousers then I know I’ve seen a decent dance floor, and this one did not disappoint.

Anyway, here’s Sophie and Andy’s wedding at Bury Court Barn as I saw it.
